Why a Dryer Stops Drying

Almost every slow dryer we are called to has one of these four things wrong with the duct, not the machine.

The dryer runs hot but nothing dries, because moist air has nowhere to go. The duct behind the wall has silted up with lint over the years. This is also the failure that starts house fires: the element keeps cycling against trapped heat with a duct full of dry lint sitting right next to it.

The flexible hose behind the machine is folded flat against the wall, and the opening it leaves is a fraction of what it should be. This one is common after a laundry room gets rearranged, and it undoes a perfectly clean duct instantly.

Look at the hood outside while the dryer runs. If the flap sits half open or does not move at all, it is packed — lint, and in spring quite often a bird nest. Everything upstream of that blockage backs up, no matter how clean the duct itself is.

We check the outside end on every visit. It is the part nobody looks at.

Every tight bend costs airflow, and flexible hose sags into more of them over time. A long run with several kinks behaves like a much longer duct, so lint settles instead of being carried out — and the whole thing clogs again a few months after each cleaning.

How We Clean Your Vent

A clear, transparent process from first call to final test.

Typical repair time: 1–3 hours. Most jobs are completed in a single visit. If a part has to be ordered we are usually back within one to two business days.

Inspect the Full Run We trace the duct from the machine to the exterior hood, checking for crushed sections, disconnected joints and the flexible foil ducting that should not be used at all.
Rotary Brush the Duct A powered rotary brush is fed through the entire length, breaking loose packed lint that a vacuum alone will not move.
Extract, Not Redistribute Debris is drawn out with a high-volume vacuum rather than pushed further along the line.
